I'm back

Hi everyone. I know it has been a long time since I have posted anything. I come and I go. I know. It's frustrating. But I have missed you all. My life has been full of lots of changes, and I just didn't have the energy to do it all. I haven't been posting, because I haven't been writing. Unless you count work. Which I don't. But this week, I picked up my laptop. Holed up in a caribou coffee and opened the file to my manuscript. As I started making edits I felt a new rush of excitement. I can definitely see the improvement. My voice and tone are much stronger now. I have a better understanding of plotting and having not looked at it in a while can pick out some of the major flaws with that first draft. It was funny, because as I typed that last chapted I had to go back and rewrite the first three or four so that they were in line with the ending. Funny how things change on you. Characters changed, plots changed relationships that I didn't anticipate developed. Hell, I even had a main character wind up with a husband and kid. I never anticipated that.

So I will keep you updated as I make edits and look to start submitting to editors. I think this break, although hard and full of doubts, was much needed.

About Me

Since the magical age of seven, Melissa has been delighting audiences with her stories of love, loss, mystery, and intrigue (though she wouldn’t have described them that way at the time). Her passion for reading became a full fledged obsession when she discovered her first vampire novel at age 12. Now, her “Paranormal Romance” and “Urban Fantasy” collection spans over 250 novels, from the Gothic classics of Bram Stoker and Anne Rice, to the breakaway phenoms, Harry Potter and Twilight. As a result, she prides herself on being ahead of the “supernatural” curve.

Melissa currently resides in Columbus, Ohio where she works full-time as a fund-raiser for a national education non-profit. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio University where she majored in Political Science. When she’s not reading or writing, she enjoys listening to live music, breaking a sweat on the dance floor and challenging her friends and family to a game on the Wii.

Life Happens

It has been a while since I have posted anything. I am sorry for that. But hey, life happens. Mine has been particularly busy the last two months. In a good way. Work is fabulous. I'm working on a second novel. I am teaching a class on online fundraising. I am designing marketing materials for small non-profits and grassroots organizations and an active member of a new church (lifechurch.tv)

Anyway. Here's to a great spring! Happy St. Patty's Day!

Happy Endings

Perhaps I am overly optimistic, perhaps I am just naiveBut I will cling to my belief that the world needs happy endings. Today's proof...the G Shot. Yes, G- Shot. You, right now, are asking yourself. What exactly is a G-Shot. Perhaps you're even flushing, feeling like you must be the only one reading this with a dirty mind. You're not. The G Shot is..."a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily augment the Grafenburg spot (G-Spot) in sexually active women with normal sexual function. " Who knew the G stood for Grafenburg!

Sunday (God's day no less), I was blissfully enjoying my snowbound isolation when out of no where I find a doctor giving this procedure to a woman. She proclaimed, and I quote, "Even if your man is a miss, with the G Shot it is hit every time!" Is that a happy ending or what? It's about damn time someone started looking out for the ladies. The downside...it only lasts about 4 months. I bet you could do some damage in that amount of time. :)

In honor of our new discovery this playlist is all about the Ladies (doin it for themselves).

First Official Report of the Year

Well. This is my first report of the new year. I am happy to say my writing is moving along just fine. It isn't taking me nearly as long to edit my novel as I thought it would and it is kind of fun. Some of the stuff I don't even remember writing! I'm also playing around with screenplays. I know, that's crazy talk. But I've been reading up on it, looking at some opportunities and I think I want to try my hand at it. Just a little anyway, see if I have a knack for it.

Anyway, the new year has become my muse and life continues to inspire me every single day. So to offer you some inspiration here is something a little new. My weekly playlist. Most of these songs you can listen to online at the artists website. Or download it at iTunes for 99 cents. It's practically the only thing you can get for less than a dollar these days.

At first glance these songs might sound sappy or depressing. I challenge you to go deeper. I think they are all about HOPE.
