Fun New Market Opp for Superheroes!

OMG. This is now on my to do list. Am I the only one who gets a kick out of the thought of writing a superhero romance short/novella?

"Samhain has also issued a Call for Submissions for  a Superhero Romance Anthology. Submit your 25,000 to 30,000 word story featuring a super hero (or super heroine). No fanfic, please. Deadline for submissions is September 1, 2011 for publication in Spring 2012"(courtesy of Cindi Myers Market News Blog).
Who is with me on this? Oh wait, maybe I shouldn't share. I might increase my competition!

Rumor Mill: Carina Press Editor Accepting Pitches

So for all my wanna-be writers out there, rumor has it that Carina Press editor Gina Bernal will be accepting pitches at the Here Be Magic Blog tomorrow, April 6th, 2011. The post with instructions will go live in the morning and Gina will choose one winner to recieve a full or partial request from them. Check it out.

I've added her Bio from the Carina Press FB page below.

Gina Bernal

When Gina Bernal graduated with a degree in History and Literature from Harvard University, some (i.e. her parents) thought she would go on to further academic heights (i.e. law school). But Gina, a lover of commercial fiction, wanted to make books her career and jumped at the chance to become an editorial assistant in New York City (“They’re going to pay you how little?” her parents cried). Not counting her college stint as a reviewer for Romantic Times, she has over 6 years of traditional publishing experience, first working on romance and mysteries at the Berkley Publishing Group, then selling the heck out of books as editor of the Doubleday and Rhapsody Book Clubs. For Carina Press, she is actively seeking romance of all subgenres and heat levels, women’s fiction, historical fiction and suspense/mystery novels with strong female leads. Gina loves books that make her laugh, books that make her cry and books that do both. She’s a sucker for tortured heroes, unusual settings and classic themes with new twists.

Good Times for LSM

Just a quick update on Love Sex Magick. I't been a good two weeks for writing. I've been submitting the novel to editors, agents and contests and am getting some good buzz. I've got two requests for fulls right now one from an agent and one from a publisher. I'm polishing up my synopsis so that I can continue submitting queries.  My goal is to have five queries out to agents or editors for this book at al times. Once I get the other three or four out, I will spend my time editing Salem's Triad and Queen of Hearts! Hmm...I wonder if I can make three sales in one year.  Happy writing all!
